The labyrinth cage valve of series GC300 and AC300 is one of the most effective and reliable control valves for high temperature, high pressure drop and other severe service. The specially designed flow path forces the fluid through tortuous right-angle turns, continuously changing direction and impinging on the passage walls, effectively controlling pressure and kinetic energy drop and limiting fluid velocity. Unlike conventional control valves where liquid pressure can drop below vapour pressure and cause cavitation, the labyrinth cage trim keeps pressure above that level along the path. It effectively prevents cavitation in incompressible fluids and reduces noise in compressible fluids, and resists erosion and vibration of trim. Compared with “mixed path” design, “independent path” design achieves a more precise mathematical model.
